Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Carthage's Third in Last Four Outings

If Cumberland Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Carthage, they should've done a better job of containing Kaylen Igbokwe. The Carthage Bulldogs breezed by the Cumberland Academy Knights to the tune of 64-27 on Friday thanks in part to Igbokwe, who dropped a triple-double on 37 points, 25 rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Carthage's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Aleasia Graves, who posted a point in addition to nine boards and four steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Carthage is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-16 record this season. As for Cumberland Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-25.

Carthage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-47 loss against Pine Tree on the 4th. As for Cumberland Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-44 win against Gilmer on the 4th.
