Baseball Recap: Sharpsville Drops Season-High Score on Reynolds

Sharpsville not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2024 (when they won 16-2). They blew past the Reynolds Raiders 14-2. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Travis Wilding made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jared Bissell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ben Lucas was another key player, earning one RBI and three runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Sharpsville and bumps their season record up to 3-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Reynolds, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Sharpsville will head out to take on Cambridge Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Reynolds, they will host Rocky Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Orioles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
