Basketball Recap: Bellevue Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bellevue can now relate to. They fell 63-50 to the North Thurston Rams on Thursday. The Wolverines' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Bellevue saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Trinity Palmer-Wilson shot 58% from the field on her way to 21 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Palmer-Wilson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Syesha Simanton, who went 6-for-12 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Bellevue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Soraya Ogaldez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Thurston, shooting 45% from the field to rack up 29 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. That's the most boards Ogaldez has posted since back in January of 2024. Shayla Cordis was another key player, going 7-for-17 on her way to 20 points and three steals.

Bellevue's defeat dropped their record down to 23-7. As for North Thurston, they pushed their record up to 28-1 with the win, which was their 29th straight at home dating back to last season.

Bellevue wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-46 victory against Seattle Prep on the 7th. As for North Thurston, they have also already played their next contest, a 42-40 loss against Lakeside on the 7th.
