Basketball Game Preview: Benton Central Bison vs. West Lafayette Red Devils

The Benton Central Bison will head out on the road to square off against the West Lafayette Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Benton Central came up short against Delphi Community and fell 67-58.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Lafayette ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 79-74 W over Tri-West Hendricks. The win almost wasn't to be: the Red Devils were down 37-23 in the second quarter.

The victory was the third in a row for West Lafayette, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Benton Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Benton Central and West Lafayette were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February, but Benton Central came up empty-handed after a 41-40 loss. Can Benton Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
