Basketball Recap: St. Luke's Falls Despite Big Games from Tyler Newsom and Leneil Jones, Jr.

St. Luke lost against Brunswick School back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Luke's Storm fell just short of the Brunswick School Bruins by a score of 56-54.

Despite the loss, St. Luke's had strong showings from Leneil Jones, Jr., who went 8 of 17 en route to 21 points, and Tyler Newsom, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Newsom has become a key player for St. Luke's: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 4-6 otherwise. Ethan BienAime was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

St. Luke's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Brunswick School, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Luke's will take on Greens Farms Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brunswick School, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Suffield Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
