Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs vs. Durham Academy Cavaliers

Durham School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 65-52 to the Durham Academy Cavaliers. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in November of 2021.

Faith Yon and Kaylen Mumford certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Yon went 11-for-25 en route to 31 points along with five assists and five steals, while Mumford shot 63% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Yon's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 30 points.

Durham Academy found their leader in freshman Naomi Adigun, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Adigun is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth 'E' Mead, who shot 47% from the field on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Durham School of the Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Durham Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
