Baseball Recap: Yantis Comes Up Short

Yantis extended their losing streak to 12 on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-12. They came up short against the Cumby Trojans, falling 12-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 11-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Cumby, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-14-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Cumby's part, Jace Evans was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Evans has become a key player for the Trojans: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jayden Evans, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with seven stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

While Yantis had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
