Softball Game Preview: Pillager Huskies vs. Royalton Royals

The Pillager Huskies will challenge the Royalton Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Pillager was able to grind out a solid win over Staples-Motley, taking the game 9-6. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Briana Blais was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Blais was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Pillager let Bailey Rudrud and Sophia Schrom run wild. Rudrud went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Schrom went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two RBI gave Rudrud a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run.

Pillager lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Royalton had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Holdingford by a score of 15-10 on Monday.

Royalton's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Pillager, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
