Baseball Recap: Mayfair Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Mayfair had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Monrovia Wildcats on Monday. This was payback for the Monsoons, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Spencer Cummins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Aidan Sullivan was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Fox, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Mayfair didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against St. Anthony on the 19th. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to take on Village Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
