Baseball Game Preview: Metcalfe County Hornets vs. Russell County Lakers

Metcalfe County is 0-10 against Russell County since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Hornets will look to defend their home field against the Lakers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Metcalfe County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Edmonson County.

Meanwhile, Russell County won against Clinton County on Tuesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Lakers blew past Somerset 15-1. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Metcalfe County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Russell County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5.
