Soccer Game Preview: Hueytown vs. Wenonah

The Hueytown Golden Gophers will head out to take on the Wenonah Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hueytown is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Hueytown lost 4-1 to Pell City on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Gophers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Panthers are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wenonah). Everything went their way against Tarrant on Tuesday as Wenonah made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Dragons' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Wenonah's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7-1. As for Hueytown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Hueytown took their win against Wenonah when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 10-0. Does Hueytown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wenonah turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
