Basketball Recap: Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Comes Up Short

Sangamon Valley/Tri-City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a blow against the Arthur-Okaw Christian Conquering Riders, falling 49-20. The Storm were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

Arthur-Okaw Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Herschberger out in front who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and six steals. What's more, Herschberger also racked up five assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brileigh Mast, who went 6-for-8 en route to 16 points and five assists.

Sangamon Valley/Tri-City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Arthur-Okaw Christian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-5.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City will venture away from home to challenge Tolono Unity at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is facing Tolono Unity at the right time seeing as Tolono Unity is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Arthur-Okaw Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Faith Bible Christian Academy/Mid-America Prep at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
