Volleyball Recap: Botkins Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jackson Center on Tuesday, Botkins came back down to earth. The Trojans lost 3-0 to the Russia Raiders on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Botkins was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 29-27, 25-16, 25-15.

Kaitlyn Meyer paced Botkins' offense, picking up ten kills. Meyer got some help from Peyton Platfoot and her 23 assists.

Botkins dropped their record down to 8-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Russia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Botkins will face off against Mississinawa Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Russia, they will take on Newton Local at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
