Baseball Preview: Weymouth Wildcats vs. Framingham Flyers

Weymouth and Framingham are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Weymouth Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Framingham Flyers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Weymouth has five straight victories, Framingham has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Weymouth's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bridgewater-Raynham with a sharp 9-0 win.

Matthew Oates looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, JJ Mannion was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Browning, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Framingham might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to Nipmuc Regional, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Weymouth's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. As for Framingham, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Weymouth was able to grind out a solid win over Framingham in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 6-2. Will Weymouth repeat their success, or does Framingham have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
