Preview: Leetonia Bears vs. Southern Indians
Leetonia has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Southern Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Leetonia suffered a rough 29-6 loss at the hands of East Palestine.
Meanwhile, Southern had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They breezed by David Anderson at home to the tune of 42-14. The result was nothing new for Southern, who have now won six contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Leetonia's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.3 points per game. Southern is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Leetonia was taken down by Southern 48-6 when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can Leetonia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
