Baseball Recap: Lapwai Comes Up Short

Lapwai came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Prairie Pirates, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.

Lapwai saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Brown, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Brown is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Lapwai's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Prairie, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lapwai will take on rival Potlatch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Prairie is set to challenge their familiar foe Clearwater Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
