Clayton is 6-1 against Willow Spring since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Clayton Comets just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Willow Spring Storm at 7:00 p.m. Clayton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Willow Spring likes a good challenge.

Clayton had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 45-point drubbing they dealt Corinth Holders on Tuesday. Clayton claimed a resounding 84-39 victory over Corinth Holders. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Pirates are ranked 520th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Willow Spring, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They snuck past Southeast Raleigh with a 54-48 win on Monday.

Willow Spring's win came from a few key players Clayton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brandon Brooks, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and eight boards. What's more, he also posted a 71% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Xavion Terrell, who went 5 for 8 to rack up 13 points.

Willow Spring has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Clayton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.

Clayton skirted past Willow Spring 60-58 in their previous meeting on Saturday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clayton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
