Baseball Recap: Mount Juliet Comes Up Short

Mount Juliet fell victim to Beech and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost five in a row.

Carter Lewis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Mount Juliet's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Beech, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

While Mount Juliet had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
