Basketball Recap: Atkins Takes a Loss

After flying high against High Point Central last Wednesday, Atkins came back down to earth. The Atkins Camels were outmatched by the Rockingham County Cougars and fell 63-36. The Camels have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Sanaa Puryear and Amanda Worrell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Puryear posted 16 points, while Worrell went 5-for-9 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Puryear a new career-high in points.

Atkins' defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Rockingham County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season.

As of now, neither Atkins nor Rockingham County have any future games scheduled.
