If Olathe East was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Lawrence Free State on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the Deer Creek Antlers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Olathe East got a good showing from Caden Wallace, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Wallace has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Olathe East saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gustavo Leon, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Ethan Hampton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Olathe East's loss dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Deer Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.

Olathe East is taking a road trip to challenge Jefferson City at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Jays will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Deer Creek, they will venture away from home to take on Lawrence Free State at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
