Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Knights vs. Republic County Buffaloes
Sacred Heart extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 24-14 to the Republic County Buffaloes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-18 on Monday.
Brooke Patterson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Edyn Sharpton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple.
As for Republic County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Republic County's side, they got a massive performance out of Avery Stindt, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Stindt a new career-high. Grae Siemsen was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs.
Sacred Heart does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Republic County, they will take on Valley Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Buffaloes are on a four-game streak of home losses, and the Mustangs a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
