Volleyball Recap: Bellflower Comes Up Short

Bellflower lost against Downey back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bellflower Buccaneers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Downey Vikings. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 16-25, 25-22.

Johan Canedo paced Bellflower's offense, picking up 15 kills. Canedo got some help from Aydan Flores and his 39 assists. Flores also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Geovanny Sanchez, racking up three apiece.

Bellflower's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Downey, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-7.

Coincidentally, Bellflower and Downey will both be playing Paramount the next time they take the court. Bellflower will head out to face Paramount at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Downey will host them at 3:15 p.m. on March 25th.
