Basketball Game Preview: Jarrell Cougars vs. Lampasas Badgers

The Jarrell Cougars will face off against the Lampasas Badgers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jarrell has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with nine straight defeats, while Lampasas will come in with three straight wins.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-38, which was the final score in Jarrell's tilt against Salado on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1090th, while the Eagles are ranked 316th).

Lampasas not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since December 6, 2025 (when they won 70-41). They blew past Marble Falls 60-35. The Badgers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lampasas' victory bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Jarrell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Jarrell came up short against Lampasas in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, falling 34-29. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
