Football Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. Hawthorne Bears
Butler had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They really took it to the Hawthorne Bears for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-0 win on the road. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 41-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears had no chance of recovering from.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between David Smith and his top target Pj Coffey. Smith threw for 116 yards and three touchdowns while Coffey gained 94 total yards and four touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards.
