Basketball Game Preview: Weymouth Wildcats vs. Wellesley Raiders

Weymouth is 2-8 against Wellesley since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Weymouth Wildcats will square off against the Wellesley Raiders at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

While Weymouth is heading in to the matchup without a victory, things might be looking up considering their last game was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-60 heartbreaker at the hands of Cathedral. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Wellesley came up short against Acton-Boxborough on Tuesday and fell 62-49.

Weymouth's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Wellesley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything went Weymouth's way against Wellesley in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Weymouth made off with a 75-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weymouth since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
