Recap: Dorsey Dons vs. Animo Venice Pirates
The Dorsey Dons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Animo Venice and snuck past 54-52.
Animo Venice's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rashad Johnson, who scored 20 points along with 4 steals, and Elliot Smith who scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Johnson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Maximo, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
The victory got Dorsey back to even at 5-5. As for Animo Venice, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-3.
Dorsey will head out on the road to face off against Marquez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Marquez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday. As for Animo Venice, they will square off against Crean Lutheran at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Crean Lutheran presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Animo Venice in California (Crean Lutheran is ranked 211th, while Animo Venice is ranked 727th).
