Football Recap: Hazleton Area Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hazleton Area can now relate to. They lost 46-20 to the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack on Friday. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it eight in a row.

JAKE HOWE produced another solid effort throwing for 279 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in a pair of touchdowns on the ground for Wilkes-Barre. HOWE's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wolfpack's success: the team is 6-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of HOWE's aerial production (95 yards to be exact) went to KEVON CREECH.

Hazleton Area's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Wilkes-Barre, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Hazleton Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilkes-Barre, they will face off against Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: HOWE and Tevin Williams.
