Football Recap: La Veta Comes Up Short

La Veta made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Kiowa, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Redhawks fell just short of the Indians by a score of 22-19 on Friday. The Redhawks lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-24 score last time.

Despite the loss, La Veta still got an impressive performance from David Roel, who threw for 135 yards and three TDs.

Even if they lost, La Veta's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Tayten Medina was especially locked on to Kiowa's QB and sacked him twice.

La Veta's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Kiowa, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Veta will square off against Primero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Redhawks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Kiowa, they are taking a road trip to take on Sierra Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
