Softball Recap: Molalla Find Success

Molalla was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts on Friday. The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 9-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.

Brenna Jackson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Brooks, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Georgia Edge was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Molalla's record is now 4-2. As for Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Molalla will take on Rogue River at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Chieftains' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, they will face off against Clackamas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
