Softball Game Preview: Lenape Valley Patriots vs. Newton Braves

For the second straight game, Lenape Valley will face off against Newton. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

While Lenape Valley's victory against Newton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots won by a run and slipped past the Braves 4-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

For Newton's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Sawler, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Isabella DeLeon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lenape Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
