Softball Recap: Lansing's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Lansing was riding high fresh off their 24-11 takedown of Charles O. Dickerson last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats fell 9-5 to the Whitney Point Eagles on Monday. Bobcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Monday.

Piper Mason put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Mason wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Esme Kennedy-Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Lansing's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Whitney Point, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lansing will take on Chenango Forks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whitney Point, they will face off against Dryden at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
