Basketball Game Preview: Van Buren Black Knights vs. Gibsonburg Golden Bears

The Van Buren Black Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Gibsonburg Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Van Buren has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 16.

Last Saturday, Van Buren was beaten by Miller City 64-24. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 589th, while the Wildcats are ranked 181st).

Meanwhile, Gibsonburg beat Woodmore 53-41 on Monday. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Van Buren better keep an eye on Elly Evarts. She was instrumental in Gibsonburg's win, dropping a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Evarts has scored at least a third of Gibsonburg's points. Emma Jividen was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Gibsonburg's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Van Buren, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
