Basketball Recap: Basalt Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Basalt saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plateau Valley Cowboys.

Despite the loss, Basalt saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ben Zertuche went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Donnelly, who posted 12 points.

Colter Ralston was nothing short of spectacular for Plateau Valley: he earned 25 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Those six steals gave Ralston a new career-high. Cash Salazar was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Basalt's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Plateau Valley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Basalt has already played their next contest, a 49-34 loss against Grand Valley on the 6th. As for Plateau Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-48 defeat against Roaring Fork on the 6th.
