Volleyball Game Preview: Monte Vista Pirates vs. Creede Miners

Monte Vista hasn't had much luck against Creede recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Miners at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monte Vista barely beat Trinidad the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates put the hurt on the Miners with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-11.

Monte Vista relied on the efforts of Reminee Mascarenas, who had 11 digs, and Abbi Ortega, who had 13 assists.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Creede and Sierra Grande, and Creede kept the tradition alive. The Miners walked away with a 3-1 win over the Panthers on Saturday.

The victory didn't come easy: Sierra Grande scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20.

Monte Vista now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Creede, their record now sits at 7-4.

Monte Vista came up short against Creede in their previous matchup back in September of 2018, falling 3-1. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
