Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Broadalbin-Perth). Everything went their way against the Canajoharie Cougars on Thursday as they made off with a 14-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Ashlynn Vannostrand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Vannostrand was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Marley Morin and Molly Mariano did most of the damage at the plate: Morin scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Mariano scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Morin a new career-high in RBI (three). Talia Russo also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Broadalbin-Perth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
