Soccer Game Preview: Union Pines vs. West Johnston

The Union Pines Vikings will face off against the West Johnston Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Union Pines is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Lee County on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, Union Pines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 441st, while Lee County are ranked 184th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Johnston). They never let Western Harnett get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Thursday. Jakob Torres was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

The win was the third in a row for West Johnston, bringing their record up to 7-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matches. As for Union Pines, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
