Baseball Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Elgin and Northmor had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Comets lost 18-9 to the Golden Knights on Friday. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Golden Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Jacob Walker was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Elgin: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Cooper Lykins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Elgin now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Northmor, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5.

Looking ahead, Elgin is taking a road trip to take on Upper Sandusky at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Northmor, they will square off against South Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
