Softball Recap: Argos Comes Up Short

Argos extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-9. They came up short against the Peru Tigers, falling 14-3. The Dragons were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Katherine Suarez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Peru, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Peru's side, Addy Marchand spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Marchand has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lilly Steele was incredible, firing off one home run, three triples, and four runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Pheobe Steele, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Argos will head out to face off against Tippecanoe Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peru, they will host Caston at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Comets have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
