Baseball Recap: Kaiser Drops Season-High Score on Upland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kaiser). They never let the Upland Highlanders/Scots get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Cats in their matchups with the Highlanders/Scots: they've now won three in a row.

Roman Hernandez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kaiser is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tino Isaiah Cuellar, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jacob Mota was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Kaiser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Kaiser's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Upland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kaiser will challenge Arrowhead Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Upland, they are taking a road trip to square off against Glendora at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
