Softball Recap: North East Drops Season-High Score on Mercyhurst Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North East). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers on Thursday. The Grape Pickers haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Maisy Post was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Wilkinson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

North East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

North East's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Mercyhurst Prep, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

North East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mercyhurst Prep, they will host Lakeview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sailors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
