Basketball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell lost against Hendersonville back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mountaineers received a blow as they fell 81-66 to the Bearcats. The Mountaineers were down 67-45 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Mateo Archer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hendersonville, going 12-for-15 on his way to 27 points. With that strong performance, Archer is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wynn, who posted 12 points along with six assists and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Mitchell and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Hendersonville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Mitchell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-55 victory against Brevard on the 17th. Hendersonville has also already played their next contest (against Madison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
