Volleyball Game Preview: St. Francis DeSales Stallions vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The St. Francis DeSales Stallions will face off against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

St. Francis DeSales came up short against St. Charles on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Stallions have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

While St. Francis DeSales was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into St. Charles' winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent-St. Mary faced Firestone in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Fighting Irish walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Falcons. The win was nothing new for the Fighting Irish as they're now sitting on four straight.

St. Vincent-St. Mary walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-15.

St. Vincent-St. Mary pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for St. Francis DeSales, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

St. Francis DeSales was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Vincent-St. Mary in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 3-1. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
