Baseball Game Preview: Palestine Wildcats vs. Rusk Eagles

For the second straight game, Palestine will face off against Rusk. Palestine will welcome Rusk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Palestine 3.9, Rusk 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Palestine didn't have quite enough to beat Rusk and fell 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Eagles since April 9, 2019.

For Rusk's part, Ross Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Rusk's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nash Acker, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Acker a new career-high. Carter Holland also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Rusk is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Palestine's loss dropped their record down to 13-5-1.
