Softball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Extends Winning Streak to Five

Mt. Pleasant came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Ligonier Valley Rams by a score of 6-2. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gigi Stanek 2025 made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Stanek 2025 was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI.

Stanek 2025 wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Danica Trainer 2027, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Ella Alakson 2025 was another, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Mt. Pleasant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive matches.

Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ligonier Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Mt. Pleasant will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rams: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
