Football Game Preview: Basalt Longhorns vs. Aspen Skiers + Official Tickets

Basalt is a perfect 10-0 against Aspen since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Longhorns will square off against the Skiers at 7:00 p.m. Basalt is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Basalt is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Moffat County 47-6. The Longhorns not only won last Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 18, 2024 (when they won 48-7).

Will Tarallo produced another solid effort rushing for 182 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 13 rushing touchdowns on the season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Johnston, who gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Basalt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Aspen took a blow against Coal Ridge on Friday, falling 55-6. The game marked the Skiers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Aspen dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Basalt, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Tarallo and Dylan Mika. Tarallo just won't slow down this season and has run in 13 touchdowns while averaging 116.7 rushing yards per game. Mika has been a dominant force too and has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 152.6 rushing yards per game.

Basalt strolled past Aspen in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 35-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
