Poplarville's 49 - 28 win over South Pike last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Chase Shears. Shears rushed for 343 yards and five touchdowns. That performance landed Shears among the top power-ranked players for the week.

It was a battle of top-notch squads when Archbishop Rummel (5th in the power rankings) took on Brother Martin (8th) last week. Archbishop Rummel snuck past Brother Martin with a 27 - 23 victory. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Archbishop Rummel actually slipped one place in the power rankings.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Picayune last week (their 10th in a row). It scooted by Laurel with a score of 41 - 22. Senior Jortin Raine deserves a lot of the credit as he earned one touchdown and 226 yards rushing the ball. Picayune's success was rewarded with a six-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
No Stoppin 'Em

Metairie Park Country Day took its contest against Ascension Episcopal by a conclusive 58 - 35 score. As a result, Metairie Park Country Day rose three spots in the power rankings.
