Volleyball Game Preview: St. Mary's Knights vs. Cactus Shadows Falcons + How To Watch

The St. Mary's Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Cactus Shadows Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Mary's lost 3-0 to Mesquite on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Cactus Shadows had just enough and edged out Saguaro 3-2 on Wednesday.

Cactus Shadows took Saguaro into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Cactus Shadows' win came from a few key players St. Mary's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mateja Cousins, who had ten digs and four aces. She has been hot, having also posted 16 or more assists the last seven times she's played. Gabby Procopio was another key player, getting 27 digs and four aces.

Cactus Shadows was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive matches.

Cactus Shadows has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

St. Mary's might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Cactus Shadows when the teams last played back in October of 2024.
