Basketball Game Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Moapa Valley Pirates

The Reed Raiders will challenge the Moapa Valley Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Reed was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Carson.

Despite their loss, Reed saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chase Spencer, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Spencer is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 63% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Xavier Hoffman, who shot 75% from the field en route to 20 points.

Meanwhile, Moapa Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lincoln County as they made off with an 85-59 win.
