Softball Recap: Ellet Wins Going Away Against Canton Central Catholic

Ellet won the last time they faced Canton Central Catholic and things went their way on Friday too. The Orangemen were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Crusaders. The result was nothing new for the Orangemen, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Rylie Sprouse was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Avery Simmons was incredible, scoring five runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lulu Russell, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Ellet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Ellet's record now sits at 6-3. As for Canton Central Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Ellet will welcome Medina at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Canton Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Gilmour Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
