Baseball Recap: Lincoln Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Lincoln Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Maxwell Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Caleb DeWitt made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. DeWitt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Eilam Bryson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddox Eppenbach, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Coincidentally, Lincoln Christian and Maxwell will both be playing St. Paul/Palmer the next time they take the field. Maxwell will head out to face St. Paul/Palmer at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Lincoln Christian will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
